Bicycle Friendly Businesses

The Lambton County Regional Trails Committee believes that active residents are healthier residents and that Bicycle Friendly Businesses have the potential to enhance the health of our community.

Bicycle friendly businesses also make economic sense. In fact some studies have shown that people who biked and walked to an area reported that they spent more money in the area per month than those who drove there.1

Bicycle Friendly workplaces also make business sense. Employees that cycle to work tend to be healthier, more productive and have fewer absences due to illness each year than non-cycling commuters.

Ontario By Bike - Bicycle Friendly Business Designation

Ontario By Bike certifies tourism organizations and businesses as bicycle friendly for free under the categories of accomodation, food service providers, destination attractions, business areas and other cycling-related businesses or organizations interested in cycling tourism. Register your bicycle friendly business at http://www.ontariobybike.ca/.

Lambton County Regional Trails - Bicycle Friendly Business Designation

The Lambton County Regional Trails Committee is interested in providing Bicycle Friendly Business stickers to businesses that support cycling. The stickers are free and can be placed at the front of your business to identify you as a bike friendly business. Bicycle friendly businesses will also be listed on the Lambton County Regional Trails Website.

Your businesses support cycling by:

  • Permitting cyclists to stop at your business to fill their water bottles
  • Allowing cyclists to make a local emergency phone call
  • Encouraging employees to participate in Bike Month events that are posted at www.bluewatertrails.com
  • Encouraging employees to cycle to work or for recreation
  • Providing a bike rack in a visible secured area near an entrance or other monitored area

** At home businesses are not eligible for Bike Friendly Business stickers **
